  1. I have totally used the drawer organizer idea. I feel like a total, cheap geek when I say that Grape Nuts boxes are the best because they are super sturdy. It's also fun to cut out shapes (tracing around cookie cutters works great), paint and hang for ornaments for Christmas. You can also glue two or more together for a sturdier and more paintable surface if you glue those shiny sides together. Yay fun! Okay, here's another idea: take a slice of plain ol' white bread sans crust. crumble as fine as you can. mix with a tablespoon of tacky glue and mix in desired color of paint (the crafty acrylic kind in the small bottles). This will make a ball of "clay" that you can mold into very fine objects that air dry to a very hard little thing. You can use it to make little eyes, carrot nose, buttons etc. for that cereal box snowman ornament!

  3. You've inspired me. I made a pencil box today from a cereal box (reenforced with some bits from a Mac and Cheese box.) Yay! I turned could be garbage into something I needed to buy for my daughter anyway.

  4. You all should go look at Molly's blog and see her cute pencil box--it's adorable! And Mols, I am so excited to try out the bread clay stuff. Thanks for that!

  6. I like to use cereal boxes and other thin cardboard containers to make gift bags. I cut off the tops, wrap them on 3 sides, punch holes and put ribbon etc. through for the handles. they're sturdier than regular gift bags and cute and original. It's fun to try to personalize them for the person you're giving them to or coordinate the design with the gift. I've used all kinds of papers to cover them including old wallpaper samples, music sheets and food wrappers. They're a lot of fun.
